Help and emergency
Sends your live location to police and your family
- Soap, shampoo and detergent in the river
Bathe without soap or shampoo; they pollute the holy Godavari. Use the changing rooms and taps on the ghat if you need them.
- Plastic bags, bottles and thermocol
Single-use plastic is not allowed on the ghats. Carry flowers and offerings in cloth or paper bags.
- Glass bottles and sharp objects
Glass breaks easily in crowds and injures bare feet at the ghats. Leave knives, blades and glass at your stay.
- Follow police and volunteers
Walk on the routes and in the directions shown by the police, home guards and volunteers. One-way routes are set up on snan days.
- Put a contact card in every pocket
Give children and elders a card with their name, your phone number and where you are staying. Take a photo of them each morning.
- Fix a meeting point
Agree on a landmark where your group meets if anyone gets separated, and go to the nearest Lost & Found centre if they do not come.
- Drink only safe water
Drink bottled or filtered water from the drinking-water points. Do not drink river or tank water.
- Eat fresh, hot food
Eat at clean, licensed stalls and bhandaras. Avoid cut fruit, uncovered sweets and food that has been standing for hours.
- Protect yourself from heat
Wear a cap or cloth on your head and light cotton clothes, rest in the shade and sip ORS or water often.
