Two-day Nashik and Trimbakeshwar itinerary for Kumbh pilgrims
Spend day one in Nashik: an early holy dip at Ramkund, then Kalaram Temple, Sita Gufa and the Panchavati temples on foot. On day two travel about 30 km to Trimbakeshwar for Jyotirlinga darshan and Kushavarta Kund. Avoid driving on Shahi Snan days and start every day early.
Day 1: Ramkund and Panchavati
Start before sunrise with a holy dip at Ramkund on the Godavari, when the ghat is calmer. Then walk through Panchavati, where most temples are close together.
- Ramkund - holy dip and, if your family wishes, Asthi Visarjan or Pind Daan. See the ritual guide.
- Kalaram Temple - the black-stone Rama temple, a short walk from Ramkund.
- Sita Gufa - the small cave linked with Sita in the Ramayana.
- Panchavati temples and the akhara camps in the afternoon, when you can also see the sadhus.
- Evening Godavari aarti at the ghats.
Find timings and directions on the temples and ghats pages.
Day 2: Trimbakeshwar
Leave early for Trimbakeshwar, about 30 km away, by bus, shared jeep or taxi.
- Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga - darshan queues are long during the Mela; go early.
- Kushavarta Kund - the sacred tank near the source of the Godavari.
- Rituals such as Narayan Nagbali or Kaal Sarp puja, if planned, booked with a priest in advance.
- Return to Nashik before the evening rush.
Tips for both days
- Check the snan dates: on Shahi Snan days, plan only the holy dip and keep the rest for another day.
- Wear comfortable footwear; you will walk a lot.
- Carry water, a light snack and a small first-aid kit.
- Save the emergency helplines on your phone.
