• Unique Three-Faced Lingam: Unlike other Jyotirlingas, the central linga here features three distinct faces representing the Hindu Trinitarian deities—Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva (Mahesh).
• Origin of Godavari River: The temple town sits near the foothills of the Brahmagiri Hill, which is the sacred source of the Godavari River (flowing through the holy Kushavarta Kund).
• Architecture: Built in the 18th century (between 1740 and 1760) by the third Peshwa, Balaji Baji Rao, the temple is crafted from dark basalt stone in the traditional Hemadpanthi / Nagara style.
• Jeweled Crown: The lingas are covered by a golden mask and a historic crown studded with precious diamonds and emeralds, put on display on Mondays from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
